Abstract: Architectural modifications of inflorescences have been a major contributing factor during the domestication of several crop species and continue to represent an effective avenue for increasing yield in agriculturally-relevant plants. In particular, increases in meristem size are responsible for the formation of bigger inflorescences and fruits, and consequently for yield gains. By a combination of traditional genetic and genomic-based approaches, we seek to identify key regulators of meristem activity in maize and understand their transcriptional control.
